I explore the effects of jets in galactic environments to study how feedback affects black hole growth and the host’s gas content, structure, and dynamics.

The figure and movie shows the gas density for 3 jets of different power in the same halo. Each panel is 100 x 200 kpc.

Jet power is written on each panel; higher power also means shorter jet lifetime. The highest power jet has also a higher Mach number. We can see Kelvin Helmholtz eddies developing at the cavity boundary.

The two most powerful jets slow down gas cooling in the halo without shutting it down completely; the lowest power jet is not powerful enough and one can see central overcooling.
